Andy DeVooght

Swimming for Richwoods High School, Andy DeVooght won five Illinois state championships and led the Knights to third-place team finishes in 1992 and 1993. He earned 10 state medals in three seasons, including back-to-back golds in the 100-yard backstroke and 4 x 100 freestyle relay, plus another gold in the 100 butterfly. Andy also placed second in the 100-meter backstroke at Junior Nationals and fifth at the U.S. Olympic Festival and earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Georgia. Andy was a four-year letterman for the Bulldogs and was named team captain in 1997, when they placed third at the NCAA championships. He twice earned All-America honors as a member of Georgia’s 200-yard medley relay and qualified individually in the 100 and 200 butterfly. Andy also won the school’s Senior Leadership Award, Southeastern Conference Athlete of the Year and was named a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American.
