Lou Dobrydnia

Under head coach Lou Dobrydnia, Limestone Community High School dominated the area softball scene in the 1980s. Lou coached the Rockets for 15 years, compiling a record of 309-97, winning 10 regional titles, four sectional championships and earning four trips to the Class AA Elite Eight, including successive appearances in 1985, 1986 and 1987, when she was named Class AA Coach of the Year by the Illinois Coaches Association for Girls and Women’s Sports. Her Rockets finished second in 1985, to go with a fourth-place finish in 1980. The 1985 team was inducted into the GPSHOF. From 1980-82, Lou’s teams were unbeaten (36-0) in Mid-State 10 Conference play. Thirty-four of Lou’s players received college softball scholarships, including 16 to play NCAA Division I. Lou is an Illinois Softball Coaches Hall of Fame inductee and past president of the Illinois Softball Coaches Association.
