Art Holst
Holst became one of the most respected officiais in the Nationai Football League through 15 years of service. He aiso gained a national reputation as one of the outstanding motivational speakers in the sports world.
Holst, a graduate of Knox College where he played on the golf team, began officiating high school basketball and football in 1955, while living in Champaign.
Moving to Peoria in 1957, he continued prep and college officiating until joining the National Football League in 1964. He was part of the NFL's officiating crew for 15 seasons and still serves as an official league observer, rating NFL officials each Sunday and scouting college games on Saturday, seeking future NFL officiating talent.
During his long career he officiated in three divisional playoff games, four conference championship games and Super Bowls VI and XII, both won by the Dallas Cowboys.
