"Organized To Give Peoria Area Youth The Best Sports Program In The Nation"
For forty years, the Independent Sports Club has helped the underprivileged young athletes of this town by raising thousands of dollars to aid dozens of worthwhile athletic causes. Formed in 1945 by members of the Gipps Brewery softball team, the Independent Sports Club has provided the financial assistance to help thousands of girls and boys pursue their favorite sport. The thought behind the organization was to involve our youth in sports, keeping them off the streets and out of trouble.
The Independent Sports Club will give aid to boys and girls this year in a variety of sports: 20 baseball leagues, JFL football, softball, soccer, basketball, hockey, ice skating, boxing, wrestling, bowling, and Special Olympics. The total is over 11,260 young area athletes, in 39 different groups, who have been helped by the ISC this year.
