Sherrick McManis

A graduate of Richwoods High School, Sherrick McManis enjoyed an 11-year career in the National Football League, including nine with the Chicago Bears. In high school, Sherrick played eight positions and was named Journal Star Player of the Year in 2005. He was also IHSA Class AA state champion in the long jump (22 feet, 9 inches). Earning a scholarship to Northwestern, Sherrick broke into the starting lineup as a sophomore defensive back. As a senior, he was named the Wildcats’ defensive MVP and first-team All-Big Ten. Selected in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft, he spent two seasons with the Houston Texans before being traded to the Bears. Sherrick was a stellar special-teams player, leading the Bears with 11 special-teams tackles in 2015, and also appeared in the defensive backfield. He was named one of the Bears’ five captains in 2016. He finished his career with 125 solo tackles, 29 assists, 4 QB hits, 3 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles and 4 fumble recoveries in 142 games.
