First Limestone High School and then Arizona State University received the benefit of Jodi Rathbun's softball and basketball talent.
From 1979 through 1982 she was a standout in both sports at Limestone.
She forged a career .474 batting average in softball, striking out only seven times in 262 at-bats while playing every position in the field. She was a three-time Mid-State 10 all-conference selection and a 1981 special mention all-stater.
In basketball she led Limestone to four sectional title games and two Elite Eight appearances. She was a two-time consensus all-stater and a three-time Mid-State 10 all-conference pick.
Her 1,119 points in her senior year set a state record and her 56 points against Rock Island established an area single-game record. She scored 2,547 career points. She was also a two-time all-state selection in volleyball.
At Arizona State she was a four-year starting guard for the Sun Devils and became the all-time assist leader with 441. She finished her career ranked seventh in career scoring with 1,194 points and seventh in free-throw accuracy at .771.
She was named to the first team All-Pac West team as an outfielder, hitting .416 and .385 her final two seasons.
After graduating from Arizona State she played on several amateur softball teams in the Midwest.
