David Booth

During David Booth's career at Peoria Manual, he helped the school to Class AA basketball tournaments in 1986, 1987 and 1988. He was all-tourney in `88.

It should be noted that he was a star on the `87 team that finished 26-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state going into tournament play. That team was a 61-59 upset victim at the hands of Quincy in overtime of the state quarterfinals. The Rams came back to capture 3rd place in 1988.

Had his career ended there, David Booth would be a sports icon in this town. But he continued his education and his career at DePaul University, where he became the Blue Demons' 2nd highest career scorer. He also ranks among DePaul's all-time leaders in career rebounds, steals and blocked shots.

After his playing days, David's basketball acumen afforded him the opportunity to become a scout for the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies, and he later became a top-ranking executive in the NBA offices.
