The Cougars were 25-12 in 1981-82 when they won the last single-division Illinois Junior College state tournament and advanced to the NJCAA national tournament. ICC's run to the Illinois state title included an upset of top-seeded Wabash Valley. Washington product Randy Holzhauer poured in 26 points in the championship win against Lincoln.
