Sunday Morning League

The Sunday Morning League is to be honored for its steady contribution to the Central Illinois baseball scene since its organization in 1916.

Since its inception, over 3,000 players have been given a chance to play baseball of a high caliber.

Many former professional athletes have played in the league and the SML has also sent a number of its players into the big leagues, including long-time Pittsburgh Pirate third baseman Lee Handley; his brother, Gene, who also played the infield; durable outfielder Bill Tuttle, catcher Jim Robertson, first baseman Danny Goodwin and pitchers Dick Weik, Guy Hoffman and Zack Monroe.
