A three-sport star at Limestone Community High School, Bob Koeppel focused on baseball at Bradley University; and in 1971, was named a first-team All-American by The Sporting News. At the time of his induction, Bob was one of only two BU baseball players to earn first-team All-America honors.

In that 1971 season, he batted .442, with 8 home runs and 38 RBI’s, leading the nation with an average of 1.46 RBI per game. In 63 total games at Bradley, Bob had a career batting average of .379, hit 23 doubles, 6 triples, 15 homers and drove in 77 runs.

Bob had been selected by the Oakland A’s in the 11th round of the 1968 player draft after two all-conference seasons at Limestone that included a 15-4 pitching record. He opted for the college career at Bradley, and in 1972, was a first-round pick by the Minnesota Twins. He played two seasons in their farm system, reaching Class AA and posting a professional batting average of .282 with 14 home runs and 143 RBI’s. He later became a teacher and coach at Limestone.
