COACH TOM PEELER LED RICHWOODS HIGH SCHOOL to a third unbeaten season in four years in 1972 although the Knights were tied by Spalding, 14-14, in the third game of the year. The team was ranked No. 2 in the state and won its fourth consecutive Mid-State Nine crown.

Richwoods again showed a potent offense, scoring 302 points and producing 28 or more points in seven games.

Once again the Mid-State Nine All-Conference team included many Richwoods players.

The Offensive team included end Bruce Lyon, tackle Scott Haynes, guard Rob McMickle, center Joe OíBrien and running back Doug Olikainen. The second team honored guard Scotty Watson and quarterback Dave Peeler.

The Defensive unit included linemen Dennis Brown and Scotty Watson, linebacker Scott Haynes and back Rusty Davis. The second team included linebacker Rob McMickle and back Gary Corwin.

Special mention went to offensive tackle Dave Metz and running back Cleo Ingram.
