WITH TALENTED FULLBACK CORWIN CLATT leading the attack, East Peoria High School produced another unbeaten season in 1940, its fourth in six seasons. Manual marred the season a bit by battling the Raiders to a 7-7 tie in the second game. Only Normal U High and Centralia were also able to score on this potent team coached by Clarence "Heavy" Allison, the successor to the late Harvey Stamper. At the end, East Peoria had outscored its nine foes 148-20. Center Marvin Clatt, tackle Don Tangman and Corwin Clatt were named to the All-City first team, while end Fred Hutt and halfback Jim Mathews made the second team. Honorable mention honors went to linemen George Loew and Fern Overmire and back Ray Frederickson.
