TriCounty Renee Heiken, now a Senior at Metamora High School, is one of the state's and nation's top young golfers. She continued her victory March in 1989, winning the Peoria Women's City title for the third time, as well as the State High School and State Junior Championships.
Perhaps no one has won more championships in golf at such a young age as Renee. That she will be one of the brightest coming stars in golf is a safe prediction.
The youngest Peoria Women's City Champion ever at 15, Renee's conquests have been many including the Illinois Big "I" State Championships, four Illinois PGA State Junior Girls Championships, National PGA Junior Qualifying Tournaments, IHSA Girls State Golf Titles, and numerous other IHSA Regional and Sectional Titles; plus, she also qualified for the Women's State Amateur and was a semi-finalist.
A third time selection as a Tri-County Sports Figure, Renee was named to the American Junior Golf Association's Rolex All-American Team, and she was recently named to Golf Magazine's 10-Women All-American team for the second consecutive year.
2000 Tri-County Male Coach of the Year BOB DARLING Bob Darling's Richwoods Knights captured the school's 1st sectional title since 1992 enroute to a 4th place finish in the boys IHSA state tournament. | ![]() |
