Inductees FOLLOWING UP on its unbeaten, untied season in 1963, the 1964 Peoria Central High School football team, again coached by William "Corky" Robertson, a former Lion player, went unbeaten but played a 7-7 tie with Galesburg.
The 1964 team's defense was a bit sturdier than its immediate perfect record predecessor, blanking Woodruff, Main West and Manual while allowing but 58 points in the 10 games.
Six members of the team were selected to the Mid-State all-conference team: tackles Paul Dimler and Fred Haug, guard Jack Reeser, center Jim Elson, halfback Mike Knox and fullback Bob Jockisch. In addition, end Bob Daman, center Dave Norton and halfback Dirk Wellbrock earned special mention and quarterback Randy Kreiling and halfback Guy Potter honorable mention.
Dimler went on to play major college football at Army, Haug at Purdue and Jockisch at Notre Dame.
